Annie Meyers-Shyer is the creator of the popular Instagram account @ThisOakHouse, where she documented the renovation of her historic Gerard Colcord home in Los Angeles and continues to share her personal experiences and design expertise. Annie began her career as a fashion editor at Harper’s Bazaar, and worked in public relations at CHANEL, before stepping away to focus on growing her family and renovating her home.
What began as a just-for-fun renovation journal quickly became an unexpected phenomenon, drawing a devoted following (over 170K) for Annie’s candid, detail-driven approach to design. Rather than focusing on polished before-and-after moments, @ThisOakHouse stood out for its emphasis on process, restraint, and authentic decision-making—values increasingly shaping the design conversation today. Brimming with practical guidance, refined aesthetics, and personal storytelling in one elegant volume, This Oak House offers a behind-the-scenes look at what it truly takes to renovate an old house, preserve its character, and create a space that feels timeless and lived in
In addition to all things home, Annie loves cooking, gardening, and spending time with her husband and two sons
