Sophie Newbold was born and raised in the U.S. Virgin Islands and eventually made her way stateside to the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. In 2012 while she was exploring a career in trading and portfolio management, Penn friends Maddy and September asked her to create illustrations for a new venture they were working on with Maddy’s sister Jocelyn. Sophie joined forces with them to help launch Tuckernuck as its founding Creative Director. From photography and graphic design to hair and makeup, she wore many hats in shaping the brand’s early identity. Today, Sophie serves as Tuckernuck’s Chief Creative Officer, leading the creative teams and continuing to define the company’s distinct visual voice.

A lifelong self-starter, Sophie is passionate about learning and creating—from sewing and painting to studying art history and architecture. She believes that great creative teams thrive on a foundation of collaboration, curiosity, and trust—fueled by open feedback and a shared growth mindset—where continuous improvement is not just encouraged, but expected.
